Sidewalk Labs was selected by Waterfront Toronto to help advance a new model of urban development that uses emerging capabilities to help tackle the toughest urban growth challenges in Toronto. Sidewalk Labs embarked on an 18-month planning process to imagine a new kind of community on the waterfront that combined forward-thinking urban design and new digital technology to create people-centered neighborhoods that could achieve precedent-setting levels of sustainability, affordability, mobility, and economic opportunity. The result is Sidewalk Labs’ Master Innovation and Development Plan (MIDP), submitted to Waterfront Toronto and the city, provincial and federal governments in June 2019.
WSP supported Sidewalk Labs in the preparation and creation of the MIDP. Primary services provided by our firm included transportation planning; travel demand modeling; sustainability and infrastructure assessments; and greenhouse gas emission reduction modeling.
