Through our testing technology services, we provide complete solutions for our clients’ testing requirements including mechatronics, emissions technology, climate technology, advanced test automation, measurement technology, construction and project management, verification and commissioning services for new testbeds, test cells and laboratories.
We have two service streams: Testing Technologies, responsible for developing the hardware and physical requirements of the test rigs; and ComTest®, the software interface, the measurement gathering and test control system.
ComTest® is an advanced measurement and control system for powertrain testing, vehicle development and component testing. It is used in a wide range of applications to test the performance and sustainability of vehicles, quality assurance of new features and certification testing for regulatory requirements.
“Our team is split into two groups, one developing the software, and the other working with the client on its application,” says Katarina Ekelund, our ComTest® lead. “Working as an integral part of our customers’ R&D teams and understanding their test requirements, we establish exactly how the tests should be performed and support them from start to finish.
“For example, in testing a vehicle’s emissions, we help our customer to interpret the legal requirements and develop the testing methods accordingly. The software then controls all the equipment in the test rig, measures data such as temperature or emissions and files it ready for analysis by the customer.”
ComTest® has been developed as a highly flexible system for customization according to customer needs. “The main focus of our customers is engine testing such as the transmission system or testing the drive line with the gear box,” Katarina continues. “We also work with chassis test rigs for light and heavy vehicles, and with large test rigs with complete vehicles to simulate the driving environment – uphill, downhill, icy roads and so on.” In addition, a mobile ComTest® system is available, which can be plugged into the vehicle to collect all the necessary data measurements from a field expedition.
