Looking at tackling some of the barriers to entry, WSP caught up with four inspired women in their business – two engineers, an environmental scientist and a sustainability consultant – on their career advice for the youth and budding professionals on entering these fields.

WSP posed this question to four built environment professionals from engineering, environmental consulting and sustainability consulting to share their insights on the trends they believe will underline how we design and build for the future.

NET Power, a company developing a revolutionary emission-free natural gas power generation technology, has taken a leap forward with successful combustor first-fire at its 50MWth demonstration plant in Texas, USA. This major breakthrough was made possible in part thanks to the support of UK engineering consultancy WSP, who has been working on the green technology since 2013 from concept design through to commissioning support for its client NET Power.

 

WSP played a crucial role in the fast-tracked development of the City of Cape Town V&A desalination plant, feeding 2.0 megalitres of fresh water into the city’s network per day.

New headquarters building for WSP in Africa was the first building constructed and completed within the Knightsbridge re-development in Bryanston. Located between Sandton CBD and Fourways with easy access to William Nicol, Main Road and the N1 Western Bypass, the building offers employees and visitors convenient access, beautiful views and aesthetics, and all the comforts of a green building. 

WSP in Africa, is pleased to announce the company received a Leading Company Award and that one of the company’s sustainability consultants received the Rising Green Star Award, during the Greenstar Leadership Awards ceremony that was hosted at the Green Building Convention in Cape Town on the 10th of October 2017.
