WSP strives to help marginalised communities in South Africa thrive through investment in ‘spade-in-the-ground’ projects aligned to B-BBEE Codes for Built Environment Professionals. A ‘spade in the ground’ project is a structured SED project that yields a benefit specifically to communities with limited services.
Projects selected for investment must be requested by the community where it requires assistance with pro-vision of basic services, including both ‘soft infrastructure’ such as schools, clinics, youth centres etc. and hard infrastructure such as paving, power and water solutions etc.
WSP believes in the importance of community involvement and charitable work to the overall wellbeing of our people, and engagement in our business. Through THRIVE forGood – an Employee Volunteer Programme designed to connect causes with passionate volunteers from WSP – gives our people the opportunity to give back to vulnerable communities, in line with our skills and expertise.
THRIVE forGood provides a platform for employees to volunteer or donate to charitable organisations aligned with WSPs SED positioning in their own time, or to build team spirit and engagement within or across Busi-ness Units and disciplines.
THRIVE forGood is an opt-in programme for our people, who can access the THRIVE forGood platform and participate in the EVP either in their private time or during work hours. By engaging with THRIVE forGood, employees commit to upholding the good name of WSP, and abiding by our Code of Conduct and Ethics, at all times and in all engagements with Causes on the THRIVE forGood platform.
