The multi-million dollar Greenfield power station is located in southern Mozambique near the town of Ressano Garcia.

The power station is being developed by Gigawatt Mozambique, which has appointed WBHO, a leading South African construction company, in joint venture with WSP, as the Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) contractor.

WSP served as the site engineer for the civil works and will also oversee the architectural and engineering design of the entire plant.

The generating plant has a capacity of 121 MW, comprising of 13 four stroke, turbocharged, inter-cooled reciprocating Rolls-Royce engines coupled to 11 kV AC alternators.
