Mr Zhang’s presentation explains the monitoring system, developed in-house and used on the Pacific Highway Woolgoolga to Ballina upgrade (W2B), currently Australia’s largest regional infrastructure road project.
WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff Section Executive for Geotechnics and Tunnels Doug Graham spoke about the system’s development in-house.
‘From a geotechnical perspective, a project as large as W2B will see a range of ground conditions that may require treatment and monitoring to support long-term stability of the site.
‘By developing an online monitoring system in-house, Henry and the W2B team were able to tailor the system to the project with a shorter turnaround time and a bigger picture in a couple of clicks, while also saving $2.5 million in costs in data processing.
‘An online monitoring system, developed in-house, is also beneficial as it can be easily rolled out for use on future projects, because the team is already familiar with the system and how it is used,’ Mr Graham said.
Mr Zhang, who is the Lead Soft Ground Designer for Pacific Complete, the consortium delivering W2B, will co-present with his Pacific Complete colleague, Nicholas Gombault.
