Another of our leading lights, Structural Engineer Transport, Penny Campbell, also received a merit in the ‘Future Leaders’ award category.

 

Speaking from the award ceremony, President and CEO Australia and New Zealand, Guy Templeton, praised WSP‘s nominees for their passion and contribution to the business.

 

‘The awards provide the opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements and industry advancement of our women and reward their enthusiasm, skill and commitment, Mr Templeton said.

 

He continued, ‘I am particularly pleased that Sam has been recognised, as her drive for excellence has made her a highly-skilled, technical leader in her field.

 

‘I am confident that Sam will continue to play a major role in the future. WSP invests heavily in all of our people to equip them with the skills they need to support our clients most challenging projects. Sam McWilliam

Sam is currently leading the WSP's technical advisor team for Sydney Metro City and Southwest preferred alignment and station arrangements – a role which she has held since 2014.

 

As design manager, Sam oversees the engineering, rail infrastructure and architectural design support for the reference design, tender documentation and final business case.

 

She works directly with Sydney Metro’s customer and product team to develop solutions that deliver the best outcomes for community in terms of safety, security, health and wellbeing.

 

Sam contributes to the wider tunnelling community through her role as committee member of the Australasian Tunnelling Society, making positive contributions in health, safety and ecological sustainability.
