Teaming with the Level Crossing Removal Authority, Metro Trains Melbourne, Lendlease, and Acciona Coleman Rail, WSP will deliver the program alliance contract for the initial works package in Carrum and Seaford.
The Alliance will then have the opportunity to deliver the remaining removals and rebuilds along the Frankston rail line at Cheltenham, Mentone, Edithvale and Bonbeach.
Mike Jenkins, WSP’s General Manager for Rail said, “Our approach for the Southern Program Alliance works is to create spaces that are community-centric and seamlessly linked to transport access.
The initial works will see improved pedestrian, road and rail access whilst creating public space and enhancing connectivity for the communities in both Seaford and Carrum.
“The project will deliver works in the adjacent area to support improved accessibility to the beach, plus cycle paths, upgrades to the local Seaford reserve, as well as a periscope at Carrum station that provides a view of the bay from the station.”
The Level Crossing Removal works will improve safety by separating trains from traffic and reduce congestion, providing an upgraded road network and modern new train stations for years to come.
