Some 18 years on, Sindy is the current Commercial Group Leader for our Transport Services team, where she oversees performance, governance and commercial integrity.
Sindy says, ‘I’ve always enjoyed the breadth of work within the business. Power, Water, Environment and Transport, it’s been quite a journey. I would never have predicted I would end up working in the commercial side, but here I am. I’m proud of where I am today.’
One of Sindy’s career milestones is the Mosman Sugar Mill near Port Douglas. She says, ‘Back in 1999, this was my first major project with the business. I started as a project engineer and rogressed to the overall design lead title. That early responsibility was a learning experience I’ll never forget.’
Weekends for Sindy are spent with family, getting stuck into new adventures. ‘, Each year my family competes in the Mt Coot-Tha Challenge, a 110km cycle up Brisbane’s steepest mountain. Completing the race for the first time was a real achievement and to have done it with my family was an even greater reward,’ Sindy said.
Sourcing inspiration from her father, who challenged her to chase her own dreams, Sindy is now trying to pass the same words onto her son, ‘Never give up. Just get back up and keep going.’
