Under the festival’s theme of ‘Together’, a group of 50 participants from WSP, GHD, Jacobs and Pritchard Francis represented the professional services industry by promoting LGBTQI inclusion and participating in Perth’s biggest ever pride parade.
Alan Rimmer, Regional Director for Western Australia says, “Participating in the annual Pride Parade for the first time was a proud moment for WSP in Australia. We had a group of 22 representing the firm including colleagues, friends and family which was a great show of support to our people who identify as LGBTQI. It also validated our approach to diversity and inclusion.

“Using the hashtag #EngineeringEquality to support our message, the group engaged in the spirit of the night and it was a fabulous experience for all.”
Following on from WSP in the UK’s involvement in their own Pride Parade earlier in the year, Philippa Greenwood and Kris Hird brought the idea to Australia. Philippa, a senior transport modeller in our Perth office says, “I saw the UK team’s involvement in the Manchester Pride Parade and it had a really positive impact on me. That inspired me to want to achieve something similar here.”

Kris, a senior project manager adds, “The value of LGBTQI inclusion in the workplace cannot be underestimated in the drive for a diverse environment. We’ve been overwhelmed by the support from our Perth colleagues as well as the firm more broadly.
“We’re already thinking about next year.”
