As part of our focus on helping communities thrive in a world we cannot control, WSP professionals played a role in MKW, delivering insightful presentations and sharing innovative solutions to make the world’s most liveable city even better in the future.
The insights? Indigenous Design Thinking Conversations explored how Indigenous knowledge is increasingly shaping future design practice and how it can be applied in local context, reflecting on the International Indigenous Design Charter. And, we provided input into the direction of transport – that is, what infrastructure, connectivity and mobility will look like in the smart city of the future.
In addition, our work on the Australian Integrated Multimodal EcoSystem was highlighted and patrons had a chance to take the project’s autonomous bus for a ride on ‘Prototype Street’ – a host of activations which along with the bus includes:
- Virtual reality bike experience – see what it’s like to cycle on the road in a range of scenarios
- Pivot – field of artificial intelligent see-saws
- Foodcubes: Urban architecture for a sustainable future
- Clean cubes: The worlds smartest waste bin with solar-powered waste compaction
- SMART boxes: Solar powered charging stations
