Out for Australia (OFA) is an organisation that supports aspiring LGBT+ professionals as they navigate their way through the early stages of their careers. This partnership is a key outcome of the WSP Visibility and Inclusion in the Built Environment (VIBE) network established in April 2019.
VIBE aids our business to develop an inclusive environment to enable LGBT+ staff at WSP to reach their full potential and feel comfortable at work.
Phil Greenwood, Chair of VIBE Australia said, “This partnership highlights that sexuality and gender identity are not barriers to a career in the engineering industry and can hopefully influence talented young engineering professionals to follow their chosen career path in our inclusive environment.”
As part of the partnership there will be an emphasis on providing diversity and inclusion training, mentoring, networking events and support for all employees.
“We believe diversity is important for our people, clients as well as the industry more broadly,” explains Leanne Whicker, Director of People. “Through our partnership with OFA we hope to dismantle a barrier to entry that may otherwise have discouraged the best people finding their way into engineering.
“Becoming the first engineering consulting firm to partner with OFA is testament to our inclusive culture and a natural fit for the firm because we share the same values.”
