The 30 Under 30 Awards recognise the 'unsung' heroes of the LGBTQIA+ community who actively work to better the lives of LGBTQIA+ Australians, demonstrate success in their field and inhabit the qualities of a role model. Namely, living with authenticity, courage and resilience.
Speaking on her win, Kat says, “I am incredibly proud to be among these inspirational members of our community, who work to promote change within their respective industries and organisations, and improve the lived experience for LGBTQIA+ students and young professionals across the country.
“My goal throughout my involvement with Out for Australia and Outreach has been to ensure that the engineers of tomorrow can be confident in themselves and in the knowledge that there are no limits to what they can achieve. Or to the contributions they can bring to society through their actions and ideas. We bring something a little bit different to the table, and that’s always a good thing.”
In 2019, WSP became the first engineering firm to partner with Out for Australia which was a key outcome for our Visibility and Inclusion in the Built Environment (VIBE) network.
Todd Nguyen, VIBE NSW lead - Out for Australia, says, “Our external partner, Out for Australia, have provided our employees additional resources and a platform to represent the community and bring their whole selves to work.
“Collaborative partnerships like this highlight WSP’s commitment to diversity and inclusion in the workplace and I’m proud to see that our very own employees are recognised for their accomplishments in the LGBTQIA+ community.”
