The status recognises her active participation in the industry for more than a decade, her professional standing and ethical practice over an extended period.
With more than 23 years of professional experience, Bronte has led and grown WSP’s South Australian Environment team, developing a culture of excellence in projects that benefits both the local community and the state and promotes sustainable outcomes.
Her colleague, Erin Fitzner, Senior Environmental Consultant for WSP who nominated her for Fellowship says, “Bronte is someone who champions excellence and leadership in the profession every day. She has continually provided outstanding service to her clients thorough her guidance, advice and proactive solutions to problems.”
Equipped with graduate and postgraduate qualifications in four disciplines; Environmental Biology, Archaeology and Anthropology, Urban and Regional Planning, and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Bronte has excelled in providing clients with outstanding environmental planning and development approvals advice.
“My broad range of qualifications and project experience helps me assess both the specific and cumulative impacts of projects on the surrounding biophysical, social and cultural environments,” explains Bronte. “They also help me to understand the technical issues, constraints and opportunities associated with projects, which I think is a valued quality.”
“Improving the technical quality of environmental impact assessment and planning approvals is something that I’m particularly passionate about because it has the opportunity to leave a positive legacy for the community and ensures best practice in decision-making. EIA is a critical part of project planning, design, approval and delivery.”
As well as working in the more traditional areas of infrastructure planning such as transport, water and industry, Bronte has been at the forefront of our push in the South Australian renewables sector. She adds, “As a business, we made a conscious decision to pursue opportunities in this space a number of years ago and we’ve since grown our reputation and developed our skills to become industry leaders. We are now working on some of the state’s most significant wind, solar, hydrogen and storage projects.”
However, according to Erin, Bronte’s influence does not stop at the project level. “Bronte is an outstanding mentor and friend to many within WSP and the wider industry. She has taken on an active role in guiding graduates and young professionals through their development years and has really encouraged them to strive for excellence and to learn from their mistakes.
“Above all else, her integrity, passion and honesty are reflected through the work she does every day, and her recognition as a Fellow is well and truly deserved.”
Bronte concludes, “To be recognised by my colleagues, peers, and clients in such a way is a proud achievement. I’m looking forward too many more years in the industry championing sustainable infrastructure solutions and excellence in environmental and planning approvals.”
