Leichhardt Power Station is a 60-megawatt open cycle gas-fired power station in Mount Isa, Queensland. It has a dual fuel Rolls Royce Trent 60 engine, which enables operation using diesel if gas is not available.
Leichhardt Power Station was designed to supply back-up power for the Diamantina Power Station (DPS) during planned maintenance or unexpected outage. DPS is a 240 MW combined cycled plant which provides the power supply to Mount Isa mines and the town of Mount Isa.
Multidisciplinary Services
The project was delivered as an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract. Our work included full detailed engineering services: civil, structural, building, mechanical, electrical and controls engineering.
Key Achievements
Our 3D integration of the various discipline deliverables for this complex project meant we could minimise the number of information requests from the site construction team, saving costly site rework and modifications.
Leichhardt Power Station is a modern, efficient power generating, delivering a competitive and reliable energy supply in remote Queensland.
