Gippsland Water supplies water and wastewater services to more than 60,000 customers across an area of 5,000 km2 in regional Victoria. To take into account the expansion of Sale, Wurruk and Fulham, Gippsland Water planned to build a new outfall sewer pump station near the Port of Sale by 2021.
This new facility will cater for future population growth by increasing the capacity of the existing pump station. It will also reduce the likelihood of spills into Flooding Creek or odours escaping from the site.
Transformation and Renewal
Gippsland Water appointed WSP to provide the functional and detailed design addressing the pump station site constraints, safety and operational issues. Our team is assessing the overall capacity of the 30 km Sale-Longford-Dutson delivery system. Our aim is to improve its reliability and ability to cater to wet weather events and future demand.
Tangible Community and Environmental Benefits
The communities of Sale in Victoria and the surrounding areas will soon benefit from an $11.4M outfall sewer pump station that will significantly improve the sewer network. As well as helping Gippsland Water to provide better services to its customers, the new pump station will have a reduced environmental footprint and complement the amenity of the local area.
