Prevention, Actions and Planning

Our environmental, health and safety specialists and crisis management experts share their knowledge and field learnings to help you better prepare for current and future events. Either through a historical overview of disasters in Quebec and their human and financial repercussions or through case study presentations, WSP experts will highlight the factors to be taken into consideration for planning purposes and to mitigate the risks associated with these types of threats, particularly for the prevention of risks related to climate change.

Daniel Doran

Daniel has more than 20 years of experience in various fields related to project management, leadership, planning, general management and administration. Prior to joining WSP, he was Associate Director for Facilities Management and Ancillary Services (FAMAS) at McGill University. Mr. Doran also serves in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) as a reserve officer. He is Deputy Commanding Officer of 34 Combat Engineer Regiment. In 2018, Major Doran was deployed for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Jean-Philippe Martin

Jean-Philippe is a geographer with a PhD in environmental sciences on the relationship between climate and natural hazards. He did a postdoctoral internship in a multidisciplinary project to assess the cumulative impact of climate change on sub-Arctic environments. He advises municipalities and local authorities on the problems related to natural hazards and adaptation to climate change.

François Groux

François is an engineer specializing in fluvial and environmental hydraulics and head of hydraulics department at WSP in Quebec. He is supported by more than twenty engineers specialized in hydrology and hydraulics and working in all aspects of hydraulics across Quebec. Flood risk management, bank protection and construction of hydraulic structures such as dykes, dams and bridges are some of the aspects that the department deals with on a regular basis.
