The transit structuring network project will reinvent Quebec City’s transportation network by relieving crowded commuter lines and providing better flexibility and connectivity for users.
The network will be designed to maximize mobility and sustainability through an integrated system of tramways, an electric tram-bus and reserved bus lanes. As part of the Tram-Innov consortium, WSP will provide civil engineering and infrastructure support for the tramway network specifically.
The complexity of the mandate, the skill requirements of the experts assigned to the project and the tight delivery schedule, speak to the expertise and collaboration across our teams in securing this significant project win.
The key components of our scope of work as part of the new transit structuring network will include:
- A 23 km tramway route with 36 stations (including five underground stations and more than 3 km of tunnel)
- 3 exchange centers (Laval University, Saint-Roch and Sainte-Foy West)
- Two operations and maintenance centers as well as technical rooms
The project as a whole is valued at nearly $3 billion, a substantial infrastructure investment for the region.
What’s next?
The first phase of the project will include the preliminary design and technical requirement specifications, integration of the existing Quebec City tramway infrastructure, as well as technical support for obtaining the environmental decree.
