WSP leader named Transportation Top 40 Under 40

Mustafa Mirza was selected by Mass Transit Mag for the high-profile honour.

Mustafa Mirza has received the prestigious honour of Top 40 Under 40 in Mass Transit Magazine’s annual rankings

Currently Director, Rail Systems Engineering in WSP’s transportation business line, Mustafa has contributed more than 15 years of engineering experience towards functional design and development, requirements definition and analysis, and client service and support.

Mustafa has worked on projects across the globe in all lifecycle phases, including tender generation, planning, implementing, designing, manufacturing, system integrating, testing & commissioning, warranty and maintenance. Through his career, he has transitioned from a technical expert to a highly motivational leader in the Transit industry.

Mustafa’s career began in the aerospace industry after earning a Master’s of Applied Science in Space Robotics. Within that industry, he developed and applied his knowledge towards Systems Engineering while involved with numerous space related projects.

He has provided expertise to international rail projects for clients in South Korea, Malaysia and Qatar. In the fall 0f 2015, Mustafa joined WSP’s Rail Systems Engineering team as one of its first Project Managers, before quickly advancing to positions of increasing responsibility. Over the past four years, he has implemented effective leadership strategies that have helped create a high-performing team and augmented the team’s growth nationally throughout Canada, from one location to five, and from 24 to over 100 engineers and specialists.

Mustafa’s notable rail project contributions include Metrolinx Union Station Rail Corridor Signalling (USRC), Metrolinx GO Transit Train Control System (GTCS), and the Edmonton Metro Line Expansion.
