WSP Attended Top-Out Ceremony for URA’s Redevelopment of Pre-War Buildings at Shanghai Street, Mong Kok

On 25 May 2018, Simon Ng, WSP’s Associate Director for BIM, China Region, attended a top-out ceremony hosted by Urban Renewal Authority (URA) for a series of Grade 2 historic pre-war buildings at Shanghai Street, Mong Kok.

The project is one of many endeavors to address urban decay in older part of Kowloon.

WSP provided specialist BIM services for the contractor throughout the 15-month construction period, a task aimed at preserving the façade and structural integrity of the pre-1930 buildings, while increasing the GFA to 5194 sq.m and refurbishing the interior for commercial use.

The Urban Renewal Authority Ordinance established URA in May 2001 as the statutory body to spearhead urban renewal in Hong Kong.
