In Northern Ireland WSP has been appointed to NI Water’s PC15 Professional Services Framework, which commenced in June 2017 and is valued at £8m-£20m per annum over four years across eight suppliers.
The regulated water business at WSP, which recently rebranded from Mouchel following last year’s acquisition, has worked with NI water for over 25 years. It will provide a number of services to support delivery of NI Water’s capital works programme including project management, strategic studies, feasibility, appraisal, procurement, design, surveying, modelling and commissioning services.
In the Republic of Ireland WSP will deliver Irish Water’s Nationwide Asset Register Data Capture Programme over 30 months starting in June 2017.
Following the successful delivery of similar projects for NI Water and Scottish Water, WSP will provide asset survey, tagging and asset condition grading services for all above ground assets at specified locations across the Republic of Ireland.
Irish Water is a customer focussed asset based organisation that was established as a single national utility in 2013. It is embarking on a significant programme to develop a detailed understanding of their assets, where they are located, and their condition in order to facilitate a process of responsible stewardship through a proactive maintenance regime.
WSP currently boasts over 35 local water specialists servicing projects across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Aidan Hackett, WSP Divisional Manager in Holywood, said: “These appointments cement our place in the water consultancy market in Ireland. Our experience working with NI Water and Irish Water gives us a good understanding of the role and technical challenges ahead, whilst drawing on expertise and best practise from the UK Water Industry.
“The focus of our water business remains on nurturing long standing client relationships, increasing the breadth of our services and a commitment to technical expertise, with our becoming WSP opening new opportunities across the UK and Ireland.”
