WSP, one of the UK’s largest engineering professional services consultancies, has been appointed to five lots on Crown Commercial Service’s Construction Professional Services framework.
The Framework offers the provision of multidisciplinary construction consultancy services to support a variety of civil engineering, infrastructure and built environment projects across multiple sectors.
It will be used by UK government departments and public sector bodies, replacing the Project Management and Full Design Team Services Framework which expires in March 2022.
WSP will lead a team which comprises of Rider Levett Bucknall UK (RLB UK) as strategic partner and a supply chain of select architectural and commercial specialists.
Through the Framework, WSP and its strategic supply chain will provide multidisciplinary construction consultancy services to support a variety of significant engineering and infrastructure projects / programmes around the UK. This will support the Government in its ambition to invest in local and national infrastructure to level up the UK’s regions and drive economic growth.
Crown Commercial Service supports the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services. In 2020/21, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits equal to £2.04bn – supporting world-class public services that offer best value for taxpayers.
WSP was successful on all lots it bid for, which are as follows:
- Lot 1: Built Environment & General Infrastructure
- Lot 2: Urban Regeneration
- Lot 4: High Rise
- Lot 5: Defence
- Lot 6: Environmental & Sustainability Technical Services
Through these appointments WSP will support the public sector in achieving best value by driving forward policies outlined in Construction Playbook, including improving building safety, taking strides towards our 2050 net zero commitment, promoting the use of MMC techniques and embedding social value.
Jon Kelly, Strategic Growth Director at WSP, said: “We’re delighted to have been appointed to this framework with RLB UK and our strategic supply chain, and look forward to using the ambition of the Construction Playbook to transform how we deliver built environment and infrastructure projects in the UK.
“This framework not only gives WSP and our partners the opportunity to help the UK Government build back better, greener and faster, but also brings huge opportunities for personal and professional development for our people, which is a truly exciting prospect.”
Julian Henley, Head of Public & Civic at Rider Levett Bucknall UK, said: “The built environment is about creating spaces for communities, supporting economies, creating opportunities and mobilising accessibility to drive social mobility.
“This framework and the work that will come from it embodies these ambitions as well as brings an opportunity to bring governance and best practice outlined by the Construction Playbook and Value Toolkit - policy and guidance that we are embedding in our work daily at RLB.”
WSP announced in October last year a commitment to halve the carbon footprint of all designs and advice provided to clients by 2030, a first in the engineering consultancy sector.
