David Leversha has joined WSP’s Structures team as Director and Net Zero Carbon Lead for Property & Buildings, the engineering professional services consultancy has announced today.
David joins the firm’s award-winning Structures team in Leeds and has a UK-wide role to deliver engineering solutions for clients which reduce embodied carbon emissions.
In October, WSP UK committed to halving the carbon footprint of all designs and advice provided to clients by 2030, a first in the engineering consultancy sector.
WSP’s 400-person Structures team works with clients including Lipton Rogers, Brookfield Europe and Moda Living, and is supporting the delivery of landmark projects including 22 Bishopsgate and Claridge's high specification refurbishment in London and Great Charles Street in Birmingham.
Leversha joins from Sweco where he was Buildings Director for their Northern Region, leading a team of structural and building services engineers exploring innovative approaches to reducing embodied and operational carbon from their designs.
Prior to that, David spent over 20 years at Buro Happold, most recently as a Project Director leading multi-disciplinary teams across the UK delivering significant construction projects.
David’s role at WSP will see him working closely with the firm’s Building Services team to ensure a holistic approach to design is undertaken in delivering embodied and operational carbon reductions.
WSP UK recently joined the SteelZero initiative alongside other major steel buyers and specifiers, including Lendlease, Grosvenor Britain & Ireland and Multiplex Construction Europe, by making a public commitment to transition to specifying 100% net zero steel by 2050.
