WSP helps UCT set a benchmark with SAs first Green Star rated student living

The first public art museum in Australia to achieve a 6-star Green Star design rating. WSP worked with Atelier Ten and the Art Gallery of New South Wales during the design phase to ensure ecologically sustainable design outcomes were achieved.

The Pan Am / Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House on the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus was a key venue for the 2015 Pan Am / Parapan Am Games, with a 6,000-capacity main competition pool. 

A major fire in September 2013 destroyed 80% of the Airedale production facility in Rawdon, Leeds. The decision was made to demolish the entire premises and rebuild a new facility on roughly the same footprint, replacing the previous building on a like for like basis, amounting to circa 23,000 sq.metres. WSP were commissioned to provide environmental, transport and flood risk services in support of this detailed planning application.

As general consultant for the municipality of Sollentuna, WSP is working on an exciting sustainable neighbourhood in Väsjön, Stockholm. 

An Integrated Resource Recovery (IRR) strategy was developed for the Courtice Water Pollution Control Plant and was a first step towards the sustainability of this 68.2 MLD plant. The study searched for technical solutions to derive value from the plant’s waste and to minimize its inputs. The results not only brought focus to the Region, which lead to the IRR option to pursue further into the design and implementation phase, but also immediate improvements with the implementation of short-term solutions.

WSP were involved in the early design of the documentation of the Greenland Tower up to 2015 which entailed rigorous regulatory requirements and heritage challenges for Sydney’s tallest residential tower.

We have played a key role in transforming an under-utilised part of Melbourne’s central business district, to create a vibrant urban community with the iconic dual tower, known as Collins Arch.

In a first for Melbourne, WSP applied innovative structural engineering techniques to grow this inner city building in Melbourne to one of the tallest timber building extensions in the world. By using the latest in timber construction technology, WSP designed to use cross laminated timber (CLT) to transform the existing six-storey building by adding a 10-storey hotel.
