We have worked on many exciting projects around the world. In the UK, London Heathrow Airport Terminal 2B is one of the largest privately funded construction projects. WSP successfully met the challenge of respecting stringent regulations and standards developed over many years by the client, to meet resilience, security and maintenance requirements while providing a best-in-class passenger experience fit for the future.
We also had the privilege of working on Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada, North America’s first airport PPP project. The terminal development programme at the airport was the principal component of the airport’s CA$4.4 billion airport development programme. In coordination with the Airport Authority, a staging plan was developed to build a new terminal facility while ensuring that airport airside and landside traffic was maintained. This included an interim infield terminal hold facility and new cargo facilities to replace existing cargo and terminal buildings destined for demolition to make room for the new terminal. In spite of the complications of building a new facility on the footprint of the existing facilities while maintaining airport operations for the travelling public, the programme was completed on an accelerated schedule and within budget.
