The webinar presents the use of site-specific risk assessment methods to achieve regulatory closure for a former industrial property in a densely populated residential area of Worcester, Massachusetts. When WSP took responsibility for the project, the site had previously been “in the system” for 30 years due to multiple barriers against closure. By characterizing the extent of hazardous materials and the risks associated with contaminated soil and groundwater, separate-phase product beneath the building, and vapor intrusion in the former plant building and nearby residences, WSP was able to achieve closure within two years.
