We require so much more than food from our rural land. Delivering net zero carbon will mean using our land to generate energy and store carbon and becoming resilient to climate change will mean land needs to decrease the risk from flooding. Plus we need to restore nature.
We have been working with rural land owners to respond to this changing environment, opening up new markets in carbon and biodiversity credits and unlocking growth and development. Drawing on a range of projects we will set out the drivers for change to the rural land in England and how land owners are responding – picking up the challenge to produce food at the same time as becoming nature positive and net zero carbon.
