Spread across 150 hectares, the Racecourse is used as training facility for the Hong Kong Jockey Club and is designed to house more than 660 horses with 20 paddocks, an equine swimming pool, horse walkers, farriery and a large equine clinic, all located around a 2000m circumference turf track. There is also a pair of 1800m and 1600m dirt tracks and a 1100m uphill turf gallop track.
Since 2014, WSP has provided professional engineering services on this unique project including servings as HKJC’s independent checking engineer for the electrical and mechanical (M&E) systems for the entire Racecourse including the stabling areas. Subsequently, WSP is also serving as the design consultant for the security system of the 5km bio-security fence and corresponding electrical power supply systems, M&E systems alteration and additional works for the extended Phase 1 and Entrance Gate D. WSP also assisted the architect to carry out the feasibility study for the entire extended Phase 1 commercial areas with approx. 18,000 sq.m.
