We are thrilled to announce WSP’s inclusion in Fortune’s Change the World 2023 list, which recognizes companies having a positive social impact through activities that are part of their core business strategy.
“We are extremely proud of this recognition from Fortune, and more importantly that WSP continues to play a pivotal role in addressing urgent challenges in sustainability, health, equity, and community building,” said Alexandre L’Heureux, WSP’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
The Fortune Change the World list recognizes companies based on four key factors: Measurable social impact, business results, degree of innovation, and corporate integration. Companies must be generating revenue from business activities with a positive impact to be considered, and the writers and editors, who evaluated the nominees, prioritized companies with annual revenues exceeding US$1 billion.
In 2022, WSP derived approximately 59.3% of its total annualized gross revenues1 from services that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), demonstrating the positive impact of its projects towards a sustainable future.
To advance its vision and deliver shared value, over the past three years, WSP has acquired environmentally focused firms, including Golder and the Earth & Infrastructure business of John Wood Group, and more than doubled the size and capability of WSP’s Earth & Environment practice.
Beyond helping clients achieve sustainability and environmental compliance objectives, WSP sets its own ambitious environmental, social and governance (ESG) targets, and reports on performance. As such, WSP has a Science-Based Targets initiative-approved net-zero target in place; aims to source 50% renewable electricity by 2024; and is committed to increasing the representation of women and Under-Represented Groups in its workforce by 5% year-over-year from 2022 to 20242.
