Jointly organised by the Architectural Society of China and the Organising Committee of the China Super Tall Building Industry International Summit, the two-day summit discussed trending topics in the tall building industry with more than 60 keynote speakers from leading local design institutes and international consultants.

Dr. Henry Huang delivered a keynote speech titled ‘New York City New Skyline: Super Slender Tall Building Structural Challenging’ on the main stage, sharing with industry experts and leaders from around the world WSP’s experiences in designing super-skinny high-rise buildings.

“More and more super slender pencil buildings are sprouting up among the skyscrapers in Manhattan in New York City and redefining its skyline during last decades. From Trump Tower (1:12) in 2000 to recent 432 Park Ave(1:16) and today’s 111 west 57 street, it was continuously breaking building aspect ratio and increasingly challenging the skills of structural engineers. These slender buildings are literally rewriting the design codes for super slender buildings.” Says Henry. “WSP is proud of our involvement in these new skyline projects and working with our clients and partners to overcome the unique challenges to deliver the remarkable 432 Park Ave Tower.”
