Dr. Lai Woei Tong, Principal (Geotechnical), presented a paper at this conference. Titled "Application of observational method in ERSS system", the paper discusses the possibilities and limitations in the application of the Observational Method (OM) while satisfying both the ultimate and serviceability limit states. It also proposes a set of guidelines on how OM can be implemented and how the risks can be better managed. This paper is co-authored with Senior Engineers, Ye Qinyi and Rachcel Lim. 

Held for the first time, this Conference - themed Geotechnics in Urban Infrastructure - provides a platform for both Singapore and Malaysia to exchange the technical know-how and experiences gained over the years through topics ranging from soil characterisation, excavations and retaining structure to tunnelling and underground space development. 

Conference participants were also taken on a site visit to Pavilion Damansara Heights, an upscale integrated development with up to 10 levels of basement in Klang Valley hosted by the Builder, Econpile Holdings Bhd.
