WSP Celebrates Grand Opening of Waldorf Astoria Xiamen

Waldorf Astoria Xiamen just celebrated its grand opening on 15 December, the fourth hotel in China under Hilton's luxury brand following Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. This is another milestone for China’s high-end hotel market.

Located in Siming District of Xiamen, the hotel, owned by Xiamen-based Paragon International, brings a fusion of Nanyang tradition reinterpreted by European architectural style of contemporary elements. Partnering with top design and consultancy teams, WSP provided full MEP, smart solutions and vertical transportation consultant services covering schematic design stage till the project’s commissioning.

Invited by the client, Gary Huang, WSP’s Director of Building MEP, China Region; John Bao, Technical Director; and Qi You, MEP Project Manager, joined the city’s officials, Hilton’s Area President for Greater China and Mongolia, CEO of Paragon International and other collaborators to celebrate the grand opening of the hotel.

Waldorf Astoria Xiamen is the first business operating at the Paragon Lianhua Lane mixed-use development. Consisting of a 34-storey tower, a retail podium and office towers, the development will soon welcome other high-end businesses and renowned office tenants. 

WSP also tailored innovative engineering solutions for the development’s MEP, smart and vertical transportation systems, shaping this latest landmark of Xiamen with other top-tier collaborators.
