AFC Asian Cup 2023, featuring 24 of the Continent’s best football teams, will be hosted in 10 Chinese cities, namely Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen and Suzhou. As WSP was appointed as MEP engineering consultant of Suzhou region, our Associate Director of Building MEP, Mainland China, Lucia He, attended the Organising Committee’s Stadium Infrastructure Seminar in Xi’an on 13-14 July to share our innovative smart design of Kunshan Stadium.
With the expertise from our Shanghai project team, the 45,000-seat stadium will be a Future Ready stadium that focuses on digital construction and smart solutions. Enabled by speedy 5G and Wi-Fi 6 network, the stadium will be equipped by state-of-the-art technologies such as 8K Ultra HD cameras and AI analytics for the best performance in stadium operation and live broadcast.
Our role will cover the stadium’s building services and ELV from schematic design to handover. In particular, our smart solutions and innovative technologies will focus on ELV provision and stadium security, including: TV broadcast and live commentary system, video capture and playback system, timing and score keeping system, ticket sales and detection system, crowd monitoring, environmental monitoring, security check and indoor navigation system.
Our design was regarded as visionary yet practical by the peers which fully comply with the guidelines on information technology for this tournament, setting an example for the preparatory works of other venues involved.
