WSP ran a pilot of Natural England’s new national ‘Green Infrastructure Framework’ in Greater Manchester. Working with a wide group of stakeholders, including Natural England and Local Planning Authorities, we are mapping ecosystem service needs of local communities, and writing policy text and an accompanying ‘road map’ to support the delivery of green infrastructure that addresses health and environmental issues. This was a strategic needs assessment, providing mapping to identify the needs of local communities and identifying where and how they can be addressed with green infrastructure. Benefits included health and wellbeing, increasing resilience to climate change and carbon storage.
