The fit-for-purpose facilities will support the Department of Defence with homeporting its new fleet of navy ships. This includes new Navy Vessels.
The delivery of essential, land-based facilities and infrastructure to support the increased number of navy personnel living and training onsite will encompass a variety of new buildings, including: Training Facilities to replicate all essential components of a ship; Support buildings to maintain communications links with deployed ships, facilitate mission planning and de-briefing, and provide storage for goods to be transported; Accommodation and Related facilities to support additional personnel staff; Infrastructure Upgrades to the existing engineering services that will accommodate all the above, including; power, potable water, sewerage and wastewater treatment plant, as well as specialist infrastructure to support the construction of new maritime structures.
Delivering Operational Excellence
Following our involvement in earlier stages of the project, our people have continued to collaborate with the broader project team in a safe, secure and compliant manner, demonstrating our understanding of the Department’s and Lendlease’s key operational requirements, stresses and drivers.
We understand that increasing value, as opposed to just value for money, is key to both Defence and Lendlease, and our solutions have been developed to provide operational advantages beyond those identified in the performance briefs, which includes unifying buildings and re-purposing redundant or under-utilised existing infrastructure.
Our building services engineers have undertaken design activities that leverage efficiencies in other disciplines and simplify construction, thereby providing time savings.
We are developing future ready design solutions to create simple, robust and economical building forms, with a focus on low maintenance durable materials to help endure the harsh coastal environment of HMAS Stirling’s location.
