Completed in 2016, the 110-storey, 530m high Chow Tai Fook Centre Tower ranks as the tallest building in Guangzhou, second tallest in China, and fifth tallest worldwide. It will be a landmark mixed-use development in the city’s Central Business District with a GFA of 510,000 sq.m.
The development has 66 office floors, 23 serviced apartment floors, 11 hotel floors, a ballroom and meeting rooms. A retail mall is located in the podium with top brand name shopping facilities as well as high quality restaurants and dining outlets. In addition, there is a three-storey carpark providing approximately 1,700 parking spaces.
WSP provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) consultancy for the project, which consisted of the overall design, tender stage support and construction stage coordination. MEP systems included HVAC systems, power supply and distribution system, fire services system and smoke control system, plumbing and drainage system, security, surveillance, audio and visual, telephone and telecommunication system among others.
WSP was also responsible for the LEED consultancy and the design of the buildings vertical transportation systems which stand out as one of the world’s fastest vertical transportation system that is capable of reaching speeds of 72 km/h (20 m/s).
