Known as the ‘Summer Paradise’ of Beijing, the district of Yanqing has been a popular retreat since ancient times offering cooler temperatures, natural mountain landscapes and peaceful rivers.
Opened in April 2019, the MEP design and construction works completed within 16 months and comprises of four main buildings with total GFA of 52,995 sq.m offers 283 guestrooms and suites, 1,200 sq.m meeting and event venues, 25m temperature-controlled indoor swimming pool and 24-hour fitness center.
The architectural design is a tribute to traditional Chinese architectural concepts with an impressive sloping roof as a key feature. “Our MEP engineers worked closely with the architects and the Hyatt Regency team to successfully incorporate the various modern building services and hotel systems whilst ensuring the old traditional look remains intact,” says Su-Lan Ge, Technical Director, Buildings MEP, China. “With the roof unavailable, we positioned the chillers and other plants at ground level with acoustic dampening measures to minimise interference to guests.”
