WSP was appointed to design the project, which is characterized by a fast turnaround time, partly due to the optimal use of a relatively simple combi-wall construction.

The project included construction of numerous water management structures, including surface retention ponds, line retention, flow controllers and two pump stations.

Special Activation Precincts (SAPs) are defined by the New South Wales (NSW) Government as areas with the potential to activate state or regional significant economic development.  

During a storm event, the First Street Tunnel will store up to 30.3 million liters of combined sewer overflow in its 853 meters of tunnel and 4 shafts, preventing flooding in Bloomingdale and Le Droit Park.
