Water resilience refers to the capacity for the nation’s water infrastructure to advance and deal with challenges from man-made and natural origins.
Funded by the Global Environment Facilities under the World Bank, the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city (SSTEC) is a major cooperative project between the Chinese and Singaporean governments. Responding to pressures from climate change, the project will deliver resource and energy savings and enhance long-term sustainability programs. The SSTEC zone is located in an important strategic coastal region for China’s national development, 45 kilometres from Tianjin’s urban areas and 150 kilometres from Beijing.
A key objective for the eco-city's Water System Plan is to implement state-of-the-art infrastructure that supports urban water-resilience. The SDE team will deliver water-resource planning services, low impact development design, storm water management, non-point source pollution control, drainage system optimisation, water circulation enhancement, and water-quality improvement.
