WSP’s Misk Schools Project Receives Highest Level ‘Distinction’ Award from British Safety Council

WSP played a key role in helping Misk Schools attain the International Safety Award 2023.

WSP Middle East’s relentless drive to embed best-in-class health and safety standards on the Misk Schools project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has resulted in the project receiving an International Safety Award 2023 (ISA 2023) with Distinction from the British Safety Council (BSC) – the highest grade possible from the leading global authority.

As a catalyst that continually seeks to raise HSE awareness at every stage of the project lifecycle, WSP is proud to be setting an example for how the industry can do better for its people, projects, and clients in order to ultimately create safer working environments for everyone.

Commenting on the achievement, Darren Hodkinson, Project Director at WSP Middle East, said:

“It is a great honour for our project to receive this internationally recognised award by the British Safety Council. This has only been possible due to the proactive hard work and commitment shown by the entire project team. WSP is leading the way in setting high standards and collaborative HSE practices in a fast-moving construction market, and this award allows us to continue to raise the bar.”

Dr Steffen Sommer, Director General of Misk Schools extended his congratulations to WSP and the project team for this achievement, saying:

“To be internationally recognised with distinction on a fast-track project with all the associated challenges reflects the hard work, commitment, and ability of all those involved, and supports the goals of Mohammed Bin Salman Nonprofit City and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Organisations entering these awards compete against a wide range of other teams and projects from all around the world. In doing so, WSP achieved a score judged to be at ‘distinction’ level, something that only 14% of all the international entries this year managed to achieve.”

This latest success follows the Misk Schools project recently celebrating another significant Health & Safety milestone by reaching 20 million safe working hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI).
