WSP Wins Building Services Engineering Consultancy Services for two of Hong Kong’s Largest Hospitals

WSP was awarded the Building Services Engineering Consultant contract by the Hospital Authority for the New Acute Hospital, to be built in the Kai Tak Development Area and the Redevelopment of Prince of Wales Hospital Phase 2 (Stage 1) in Shatin. 

The 2,400-bed New Acute Hospital and the 1,200-bed Prince of Wales Hospital redevelopment, are the two largest projects under the Hong Kong government’s HK$200 billion,10 year Hospital Plan. 

With a construction floor area (CFA) of about 500,000sq.m, the New Acute Hospital will provide both inpatient, ambulatory and accident and emergency services as well as Oncology and Neuroscience specialist centres.

The Prince of Wales Hospital redevelopment will involve the demolition of existing staff quarters blocks and the nursing school lecture theatre to make way for a new in-patient extension block comprising acute services facilities, peri-operative centre, MRI and cardiac care facilities.
