Project Completion Ceremony for URA’s Redevelopment of Pre-War Buildings at Shanghai Street, Mong Kok

On 8 November 2019, Simon Ng, WSP’s Technical Director and Head of BIM, China Region attended the project completion ceremony for a series of Grade 2 historic pre-war buildings at Shanghai Street, Mong Kok.

The project namely 618 Shanghai Street, is one of many endeavors to address urban decay in older part of Kowloon by the Urban Renewal Authority (URA).

WSP provided specialist BIM services for the contractor throughout the 15-month construction period, a task aimed at preserving the façade and structural integrity of the pre-1930 buildings, while increasing the GFA to 5,194 sq.m and refurbishing the interior for commercial use. An as-built BIM model was also produced to aid future facility management.
