Thomas Chan to Chair the Electrical Safety Advisory Committee for a Second Two-Year Term and He is Named Honorary Professor of The School of Science & Technology by The Open University of Hong Kong

The Secretary for the Environment Government Secretariat has re-appointed Ir Thomas Chan for another two-year term as the Chairman of the Electrical Safety Advisory Committee, with effect from 6th April, 2020.

Thomas has 30-plus years of proven track record and professional experiences that span all aspects of electrical and building services engineering, which make him an ideal candidate to once again chair the Advisory Committee.   On his new tenure, Thomas will continue to lead and work closely with other committee members to advise on matters concerning electrical safety.

Currently the Executive Director, Building MEP, China Region at WSP, Thomas is also an active member in various professional engineering institutions and academic community services.   He is the immediate Past President of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and a member of the Higher Education Advisory Committee, Vocational Training Council, he also sits in the Task Force on Reasonable Consultancy Fee Evaluation System of Construction Industry Council Hong Kong.   

Thomas is very keen in nurturing young talents through teaching and mentorship as well, despite his busy schedule.  He has recently accepted the appointment by The Open University of Hong Kong to serve as Honorary Professor of The School of Science & Technology for a three-year term.
