Reem enjoys the problem-solving aspect of engineering and thinking outside the box to come up with new and creative solutions for everyday problems, “When I first started studying engineering and saw how male-dominated the field is, I became particularly motivated to create a space for women in the industry. And I’ve been hooked since!”
Reem is half Egyptian and half Palestinian who grew up in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She moved to Miami to study Civil Engineering with a minor in Studio Arts, and then moved to Boston to work for 4 years before finally moving to Dubai to be with her family. She said, “Besides being closer to my family, I was excited to experience engineering in Dubai – the projects here are so unique and fast-paced that I’ve been exposed to and learned about so much more in such a short amount of time.”
Reem has worked on some of the most iconic projects in the region and aims to go above and beyond to keep clients happy and meet deliverables and deadlines.
Outside work Reem is passionate about self-discovery, the creative process and continuous learning. She finds art, podcasts, and the outdoors to be great media for exploring new ideas and concepts, and gaining new experiences. She shared, “One art form I’ve focused on in particular is pottery. I love how beautiful it looks while being totally functional. I get a great sense of pride when people drink out of a mug or compliment the serve-ware at a dinner and I can say ‘I made that’.”
