In keeping with its Future Ready^TM initiative and commitment to sustainability, WSP is participating in Climate Week, one of the world’s key climate action summits, taking place from September 23-29 in New York City, in conjunction with the United Nations General Assembly. 

WSP experts at Climate Week NYC, September 23-29 2019

• Dan Sobrinski, WSP vice president of Sustainability, Energy and Climate Change will join a panel discussion on Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 9:30 a.m.-noon entitled From Tactical to Transformational: Can Carbon Neutral Programs Deliver a Net Zero Global Economy? Organized by Natural Capital Partners, the panel will explore the value of carbon neutral programs, how they are being used to drive corporate strategy and what’s required to ensure they deliver a net zero global economy. Hosted at the offices of BCG, 10 Hudson Yards, 347 10th Avenue, New York, NY.

• John Chow, WSP vice president and senior supervising transportation planner, and Alyssa Curran, associate consultant, U.S. Advisory Services, will participate in the Global Adaptation & Resilience Investment Working Group (GARI) meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Launched at COP21, the Paris Climate Conference—in conjunction with the UN Secretary General's Anticipate, Absorb, Reshape (A2R) climate resilience initiative—GARI brings together public and private stakeholders to focus on risk assessment; climate adaptation and resilience investment, research and strategy; partnership operationalization; and coordination of activities to achieve material results. 

• WSP will host Mission Innovation (MI) at its New York City offices during Climate Week NYC. Comprising 24 countries and the European Union, MI is a global initiative working to advance clean energy innovation to make it affordable and bring new ideas into the conversation. MI emphasizes international collaboration, recently formalizing a commitment with the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.

As a United Nations Global Compact signatory, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, WSP is committed to operating responsibly, in alignment with universal sustainability principles. Though Future Ready, our employees around the world are bringing an extra contribution to communities and supporting global climate action and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), beyond traditional engineering.

During Climate Week, we launched an internal campaign inviting our employees to identify the SDGs that are the most important to them and share them on social media.
We strongly believe that the most powerful impact we can have to support climate action is through our work with clients, helping them operate more sustainably, during Climate Week and year-round.
