Who are you and what is your role?
I am Head of Environment and Sustainability for our Middle East business. My role consists of two main aspects; managing and developing my team to progress forward in their careers and strategically helping us to win work across the region.
What got you into engineering?
I come from a family of engineers! My father was a petroleum engineer and my mother and brother are chemical engineers. I was always going to follow in their footsteps.
What is it you do outside of work that you feel most proud of?
Away from engineering I like to invest in my property portfolio, but my real passion is in the hospitality industry I really enjoy managing my café in Turkey which I have been doing for the past four years. It serves the best coffee around!
What do you think the future of engineering looks like?
I think the future will be based around automation. Technology will take care of the operationally intensive parts of engineering, allowing us more time to focus on the strategic aspects and ultimately be more creative!
What are your thoughts on Gender Balance & Diversity within the industry?
Gender balance and diversity is extremely important. There is a new wave of females coming into our industry from various Universities and they deserve to be offered the same opportunities as everyone else.
Diversity of our teams and businesses allows for new perspectives and ideas meaning we can provide better solutions for our clients. It’s important females are provided with the same opportunities to progress at leadership levels within businesses allowing them to offer their perspectives as decision makers and influencers.
