What do you do?
I am a Quality Assurance / Quality Control Engineer within our Transport and Planning supervision team and I am based on the Emirati Neighborhood project in Abu Dhabi.
In my role, I am responsible for our team meeting the Client’s QA/QC project requirements and upholding our WSP HSEQ policies and procedures, one of which is a 99% score on our internal quality dashboard.
Where are you originally from?
I am from a small town called Kharian in between two industrial cities Jhelum and Gujrat in Pakistan. My family are based and they visit me here in Abu Dhabi for 3 months each year.
How long have you been with WSP and in the region?
I’ve been part of WSP for a year and a half, although I’ve been in the region for over 11 years! Which seems a long time but I do have some relatives who have been here for more than 30 years!
What has been your best accomplishment at work?
As a Quality Engineer, I have worked on many multi-disciplinary projects, recently on the Emirati neighbourhood project where we have completed several project milestones with zero accidents and without any quality issues. It’s a marvelous achievement for myself and the team.
What are you most passionate about?
I am passionate about developing myself professionally and delivering a high-quality service to our clients. We achieve these standards through hard work and teamwork.
What is it you do outside of work that you feel most proud of?
Outside of work I like to read, I also really like to travel and check out the various tourist destinations in the region, although I spend most of my time catching up with my family and encouraging them to focus on their studies!
What are you most looking forward to in your future WSP career?
As an experienced Quality Engineer, I feel I can be an important mentor for the other Quality Professionals in the business by offering guidance and feedback. I would also like to continue my career with WSP – maybe even work on projects in some of our other locations if the opportunity arose!
What do you think makes WSP a great place to work?
For me its the diverse working environment, and that I can achieve my own professional goals as well as those of the company.
