WSP will provide these services for the new electric multiple unit trains (EMUs) during several phases of the program, to design the specifications, procure and launch the new electric trains. WSP is also providing expertise to manage 29 supporting projects such as the new maintenance facilities and IT infrastructure for the program.
WSP has already contributed to the second phase, which includes the development of the tender documentation for the purchase of the electric trains. For this, WSP drew on its demand-driven design philosophy by holding workshops to capture the needs of the various stakeholders in DSB and then developing the technical specifications and other tender documents from these captured needs. This philosophy will be used throughout all phases.
The process involved working closely with DSB to provide advice on several aspects of the procurement, as well as information about the various available options to ensure DSB can make the right decision for the solution that meets its needs.
