This webinar explores how complex it can be to study and assess the health risks associated with chlorinated solvents vapour intrusion. Chlorinated solvents are used for example by dry cleaners and if these chemicals contaminate soil and/or groundwater, they are sufficiently volatile, toxic and persistent to present a health risk to people living above the vapour intrusion contamination for decades after the company has closed down.
Projects from Swedish dry cleaners will be presented that shows how this risk can be assessed by a combination of investigations and modelling and some important lessons learned will be revealed regarding vapour transport in buildings.
