Transportation facilities include the at-grade Olympic Mass Transit Station, which is strategically located in the center of the development and provides a convenient link to Hong Kong’s mass transit network. A public transport interchange below the HSBC Centre is served by public buses, mini buses and taxies. Both facilities are connected to the rest of the development via the network of walkways.
Office facilities include the HSBC Centre, which is occupied by HSBC and comprises three office towers (14-story and two 15-story) with 893,400 square feet (83,000 square meters) office space plus a two-level underground car park. The other major office block is the 24-story, 301,400-square-foot 28,000-square-meter) Bank of China Centre.
Retail facilities include two major malls that provide top-brand shopping as well as integrated recreational facilities such as an indoor sports complex and a community center. The malls have a combined retail area of more than 667,300 square feet (62,000 square meters) plus 550 underground parking spaces
Residential facilities include three luxury residential complexes developed by some of Hong Kong’s leading developers. The Island Harbour View, Park Avenue and Central Park residential developments offer 5,250 apartments in 17 high-rise towers ranging from 36 to 46 stories in height. There are also 1,300 underground parking spaces.
WSP served as the mechanical, electrical. and plumbing and drainage consultant for the entire development including the mass transit station and public transport interchange. Responsibilities included the following systems:
- Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning;
- Fire services, including fire detection and alarm systems;
- Electrical power and distribution systems;
- Emergency power generating plants;
- Plumbing and drainage systems;
- Lifts and escalators;
- Swimming pools including irrigation and filtration plant;
- Sound, telephones, security and broadcasting systems;
- Building management system; and
- Utilities.
